Hello From Kayla Clement- Haisley's New ELL Teacher

Hello Families of Haisley Elementary,

My name is Kayla Clement, and I am the new English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher for Haisley Elementary. I am very excited to join the Haisley staff and meet the students and families of the Haisley community.

I will be working specifically with students who speak different languages at home and/or who consider English as a second language. I will be working in classrooms to support students in the areas of Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. My work focuses on academic vocabulary development, developing language through content based-instruction, and identifying areas of development for students in regards to language.

I have three years of experience with teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). I have taught English as a Second Language classes in different capacities from high school students in Indonesia to elementary-aged students from Central and South America in Chicago. I also have my Elementary Teaching Certificate and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan. I taught at Mitchell Elementary for my teaching internship while I was in the ELMAC program.  I have worked with English Language Learners in different settings and look forward to working with students at Haisley!

Please contact me if I can be of service to your child or if I can answer any questions. I am eager to partner with the families of Haisley to best serve our students.

You can reach me at or call the school at 734-994-1937.

Warm Regards,

Kayla Clement
